Vintage Friday — Singer Oil Cans

14 10 2011

I’m drawn to vintage sewing machines, but Guy feels the pull of oil cans.  He has a small collection going.  He bought all of them except the one for the featherweight, which I purchased.

They are far more interesting than the plastic bottles of today.

sonya, i bought the snow a-z pattern and I bought dmc 3808. i really like what you did. What size needle did you use for embroidery and how many strands of floss. Would appreciate your help.

I followed the recommendations in the pattern for number of strands of floss, I believe it was almost always two strands. When I added Kreneik Blending Filament, I just added it to the two strands, I did not replace a strand. I use Jeana Kimball’s Foxglove Cottage Embroidery/Redwork needles, size 11. I like the shortest, finest embroidery needle I can get away with for the size of floss (aka number of strands) I’m using.
