Rise and Shine!

2 07 2011

It’s summer and our bedroom windows stay wide open overnight  (we do not have air conditioning and don’t usually need it for more than 2 or 3 weeks each summer).  This means that our north-easterly facing room gets daylight bright and early, right along with the noise of birds awakening.  In turn I’ve been waking up around 5 am even without the incentive of getting the boys off to school.  Both neighbors behind our house keep chickens and happily they don’t usually join the bird chorus!

But in honor of these early mornings (and chickens), here is a pillow I just finished.

The pattern for the stitchery is from Bareroots.  It does not include directions for a pillow, but rather for a framed piece.  I find that I’m drawn to pillows at this point in time, they are a small quick project that doesn’t have to be hung for display.  There are only four embroidery stitches used in this project: back-stitch, french knots, lazy daisy and cross stitch.

It’s great to see you finishing projects again here in Arkansas it is what we call Arkansas brown, usually this does not happen until August but it started in June and we are still at it. Anxious to see what August will be like. Enjoy your cool evenings.
