I’m trying a little challenge for myself. I’ve been meaning to work on the Garden quilt from a 2000 Quiltmaker issue and I just never get around to it. It doesn’t help that paper piecing is just not one of my favorite techniques. My challenge is one block a day (5 days a week).
Block 1 — Tomato — July 14, 2008
Block 2 — Second Tomato – July 15
Block 2 – Third Tomato – July 16
Block 4 — Fourth and Final Tomato – July 17
Raw tomatoes are probably my least favorite food. So it could be that the worst is out of the way.
Block 5 — Watermelon — July 18
Block 6 — Second Watermelon — July 19 late evening
Block 7 — Third Watermelon – July 20 (I also added the sashing strips to the watermelon already made)
Block 8 — Fourth Watermelon — July 21
Block 9 — Fifth Watermelon – July 22
And all 5 together in one strip.
I had a few days away from the sewing machine, but now I’m back!
Block 10 — Corn – July 28
Block 11 — Corn 2 — July 29
Block 12 — Corn 3 — July 30
Block 13 — Corn 4 — July 31 I’m trying to decide if I need to do something to dull down that one bright yellow green leaf.
Block 14 — Beet — August 1
Block 15 — Beet 2 — August 4
Block 16 — Carrot — August 5
Block 17 — Carrot 2 — August 6
Block 17 Carrot 3 — August 7
Block 18 — Onion — August 8 I had no idea this block was an onion when I quilted this quilt for others. I thought it was a turnip. However, the pattern says its an onion.
Block 19 — Onion 2 — August 9
Block 20 — Onion 3 — August 10
Block 21-25 — Radish — August 15 I’ve missed doing my block a day because of other priorities this week. Today was very rainy and it was hard to get motivated for anything else, so I finished the last of the paper pieced blocks.
